• The Black Drum •

is a project created by Kevin "Nevik" Hartnell.
The goal is simply to culminate a lifetime of work, study,
experience, travel to create a very personal and identifiable
sound that can only be The Black Drum.

• The Story Behind "Rakshasa" •

"Rakshasa" was born out of a six-week break from touring with
the crazy notion that there would be time enough for one person
to write, rehearse, record, mix, master, and design art for a complete
package. This personal challenge was met and became a reality despite
so little time. Music from "Rakshasa" has been used in films, commercials,
and for various choreographies created by dance troupes from around the country.
In thanks to the amazing support that "Rakshasa" has received, I am gifting
it to the community as a free download. The follow-up CD should be
completed by November '08. Thanks to everyone for making
"Rakshasa" such a positive learning experience!
